Itโs been a busy & productive couple of months for our new (as of April 2025) MDSCA board. Here are just a few of the things theyโve been putting their attention on:
DIRECT CONNECTIONS WITH FORRES:
-Watch our blog for stories from various Mount Doransโ recent and upcoming trips to Forres.
-Together with the Mount Dora Center for the Arts, we have chosen the recipient of the Forres artist exchange award, and are excited to welcome Morgan Jenkins to Mount Dora later this fall. Watch this space for ways that you can welcome and connect with her over the Fall Craft Festival, as well as the plant & garden Festival!
-Creating a list of Forres-based people interested in seeing the โTwinningโ link re-established/strengthened on that end.
-Planning of a โCross-pond Connectionsโ gathering in Forres during the visit of 2 of our board members next month.
-Bringing in MDSCA members Jubilee Journeys and Personal Tours of Scotland to build out Scotland travel packages which include Forres visits.
RENEWED FUNDRAISING EFFORTS:
-We have found a stash of Mount Dora tartan, which are now available in our online donation shop! Limited supply available, get yours now
t-shirts available for a $25 donation, send us your preferred size in the notes of the online donation process.
-Planning is underway for Highland Hootenanny, an upcoming FUNdraiser to be held in November.
AWARENESS-RAISING:
-Improved online presence (investment into this beautiful new website, more email communication, and increased/streamlined social media).
-In-person events: continued monthly luncheons, addition of a quarterly Happy Hour, renewed connection with Plaid-in-the-Park, a tent/booth at the Highland Festival, and more opportunities coming!
