Mount Dora, Florida, USA and Forres, Moray in the Scottish Highlands
became Sister Cities in 1990
*
In 1956 President Dwight D. Eisenhower envisioned a way for U.S. cities to create formal partnerships with foreign cities. Believing that City to City, Person to Person we could exchange information and ideas in order to develop friendships and deepen cultural understanding and peace. His vision became a reality with the formation of Sister Cities International. Mount Dora Sister Cities Association, Inc. is proud to be part of the Sister City Program.
Mount Dora Sister Cities Association, Inc. works to educate people on the history and culture of Scotland and promote person to person connections with our twinned city of Forres, Moray in the Scottish Highlands.
Join us at our end of month social luncheons. This month Tuesday June 25 at 12:30 pm at Claire’s Creperie located in the Marketplace at 4th Ave & Donnelly downtown. Just show up and say you are with the Sister Cities.

MDSCA 2024/2025 Projects
Business to business outreach
We are busy connecting Mount Dora businesses and Forres businesses so they may collaborate together. If interested in this program, email us at [email protected]
Connecting students
Our Student Ambassador is busy on a project between Mount Dora youngsters and Forres youth based upon the book “Fantastic Forres”. For more information email [email protected]
“Door to Forres : Door to Mount Dora” interactive technology art project
We are busy developing a Web-Cam-like interactive technology art experience with an outdoor public portal between the two cities. This will be located in each of our downtown areas so anyone passing by can connect visually to those in the other city – “live.” In Mount Dora it will be located in Simpson Cove near the Lighthouse and new Art Sculpture Walk. We expect to launch by Summer 2025. For more info email [email protected]
Organization to organization connections to promote cultural and education ties between our two cities
We are collaborating with other organizations with details to be announced in the coming months. One project is to bring an artist from Forres to Mount Dora, and send one of ours there in 2025/2026. If your organization would like to partner with us on a project, or connect with your counterpart in Forres, let us know. For more information email [email protected]
Group travel trip to Scotland
We’re busy working with a super travel group in Orlando on a possible group travel trip in 2025 to Scotland and Forres and the Scottish Highlands. Email us at [email protected] to be one of the first to know the details when they are available.
